What is a Dental Appliance?

Maintaining your oral health involves more than simply flossing and brushing your teeth. For people who play sports, who clench or grind their teeth, or who snore, dental appliances can help to preserve and protect your oral structures and the health of your bodies holistically.

Dental appliances offered at Ridge Smile Dental Clinic – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – are used to help protect the health of your oral cavity.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders are capable of disrupting your sleep and negatively impacting your overall health and wellbeing if left untreated.

For our patients who snore, the relaxation which occurs in their throat causes their airways to be constricted and oxygen to be forced through. For patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and obstruct the airway, forcing the brain to wake them up to breathe.

At Ridge Smile Dental Clinic, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to move the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway. This helps to change your flow of breath and prevents you from waking up throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

We offer custom-made mouth guards that fit over your teeth to protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If your are struck in the mouth while playing a sport, a mouth guard will be able to provide a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissues of your mouth and face.

Night Guards

If you grind your teeth during sleep, a mouth guard will help to protect your teeth form being damaged. If you clench your jaw while your sleep, a mouth guard will also help to prevent clenching and alleviate some of the pain.
